'TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY?

Beautiful Love

'TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY?
By Jim Elliff

"'Tis the Season to be jolly?" Well, maybe.

The business of Christmas, that is, the hard and cold commercial trade of the Thanksgiving to Christmas sales window, is a measure of how well America is doing. It's the thermometer in our corporate mouths.

Needs are created through the media in order to entice the buyer into purchasing more this year than last. No one is to be disappointed at Christmas, after all. The manipulation is as blatant toward children as adults. And who can bring themselves to crush the psyche of anyone by not giving them all they want?

The end result of all of this is "happiness." The receivers of the presents are happy and the merchandisers are happy. The media people are happy and the credit card people are happy. Everything is happy during Christmas.

Happy is what it is supposed to be, that is. But sometimes things go south. The economy may well not cooperate.

Sickness may invade the home, jobs may be lost, anger and sulkiness may pervade the atmosphere, death may stalk a family member, drugs and alcohol may taint family togetherness, divorce clouds may darken the skies, disappointment may rule a child's spirit, and depression may turn you pensive and silent. And so it goes behind the closed doors or in the inner space of so many. The Bible says that even in their laughter there is sorrow.

Can tinsel and presents, carols and candy really bring happiness? Not often, and not much. And if our happiness is based on circumstance, is it a true happiness? Isn't it just a playful escape, a temporary delusion? Does a little thin paint on the outside eradicate the rust beneath? Do cosmetics on a corpse make the death go away?

I think the diversion is worth something, mind you, But when the reality is so strong, do we have the right to call even Christmas a source of true happiness?

This "reality" is much more troubling than the list mentioned above-the depression, sickness, sulkiness, and aggravations. The reality for a person without Christ is a permanent state of non-forgiveness, alienation from God, separation from the true people of God forever, and hell. Those are the matters that make happiness hard to come by and what makes laughter so fugitive for the thinking person.

Even joy based on family can elude you. Everything is moving, changing, shifting. You cannot rest on anything to bring solid, stand-against-all-odds joy but that which is permanent. And that which is permanent is God.

When the angels sang about Christ's birth, they said that they were bringing tidings of "great joy." Great joy?—yes, joy for every person who will come to Him by faith. It is in the relationship with God through Christ where joy is found.

If a person is related to God through His Son Jesus Christ, then joy, that deeper happiness that is more than a facial characteristic, is a birthright blessing. The true Christian should be joyful because his sins are forgiven, his place in heaven is secure, his life is in-dwelt by God's Spirit, and he has an open door to God's throne room. No matter what happens, he always has reason to rejoice because the big things are taken care of, and the Spirit in him promises to help him through all the rest. In a word, his joy is not based on circumstance, but on huge unchanging facts and an even bigger God behind the facts.

For sure, some true Christians forget what they have and need a refresher course on what is provided for them, but on the main you will notice that true Christians have joy that is bigger than circumstances. I'm not saying this about pseudo-Christians, of course, the church-goers who really don't know Christ.

Christmas then is not the season to be jolly, as if the other seasons are the opposite. But it is the reason to be joyful. Christ's coming to the earth, His perfect life and sacrificial death as a substitute for sinful people like us, is certainly a reason for joy to all who will come to Him by faith.

Is that you?

If you are one of those who has not come to Christ, then the best you can do this season is to hope for good circumstances and a kind of naïveté about your actual situation before God. But things could be different and the coming of Christ that you are singing about this holiday time could become the best news you have ever heard-good tidings of great joy!

Tips On Pumping Gas - Good Info

TIPS ON PUMPING GAS--GOOD INFO!

I don't know what you guys are paying for gasoline... Here in California we are also paying higher, up to $3.50 per gallon. But my line of work is in petroleum for about 31 years now, so here are some tricks to get more of your money's worth for every gallon.

Here at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline where I work in San Jose, CA. we deliver about 4 million gallons in a 24-hour period thru the pipeline. One day is diesel the next day is jet fuel, and gasoline, regular and premium grades. We have 34-storage tanks here with a total capacity of 16,800,000 gallons.

TIPS:

Only buy or fill up your car or truck in the early morning when the ground temperature is still cold. Remember that all service stations have their storage tanks buried below ground. The colder the ground the more dense the gasoline, when it gets warmer gasoline expands, so buying in the afternoon or in the evening... your gallon is not exactly a gallon.

In the petroleum business, the specific gravity and the temperature of the gasoline, diesel and jet fuel, ethanol and other petroleum products plays an important role. A 1-degree rise in temperature is a big deal for this business. But the service stations do not have temperature compensation at the pumps.

When you're filling up do not squeeze the trigger of the nozzle to a fast mode. If you look you will see that the trigger has three (3) stages: low, middle, and high. In slow mode you should be pumping on low speed, thereby minimizing the vapors that are created while you are pumping. All hoses at the pump have a vapor return. If you are pumping on the fast rate, some of the liquid that goes to your tank becomes vapor. Those vapors are being sucked up and back into the underground storage tank so you're getting less worth for your money.

One of the most important tips is to fill up when your gas tank is HALF FULL or HALF EMPTY. The reason for this is, the more gas you have in your tank the less air occupying its empty space. Gasoline evaporates faster than you can imagine. Gasoline storage tanks have an internal floating roof. This roof serves as zero clearance between the gas and the atmosphere, so it minimizes the evaporation. Unlike service stations, here where I work, every truck that we load is temperature compensated so that every gallon is actually the exact amount.

Another reminder: If there is a gasoline truck pumping into the storage tanks when you stop to buy gas, DO NOT fill up! Most likely the gasoline is being stirred up as the gas is being delivered, and you might pick up some the dirt that normally settles on the bottom.

Obedience

"All God's revelations are sealed until they are opened to us by obedience.

You will never get them open by philosophy or thinking. Immediately you obey, a flash of light comes. Let God's truth work in you by soaking in it, not by worrying into it.

The only way you can get to know is to stop trying to find out and by being born agin. Obey God in the thing He shows you, and instatly the next thing is opened up. ......

It is not study that does it, but obedience. The tiniest fragment of obedience, and heaven opens and the profoundest truths of God are yours straight away.

God will never reveal more truth about Himself until you have obeyed what you know already...

-from "My Utmost For His Highest" by Oswald Chambers.

"Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;" Hebrews 5:8

"He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." John 14:21

Jesus Is The Potter, Not Harry.

Jesus Is The Potter, Not Harry.

Harry Potter: What Does God Have To Say?

Pastor David J. Meyer

I am writing this urgent message because I was once a witch. I lived by the stars as an astrologer and numerologist casting horoscopes and spells. I lived in the mysterious and shadowy realm of the occult.

By means of spells and magic, I was able to invoke the powers of the 'controlling unknown' and fly upon the night winds transcending the astral plane. Halloween was my favorite time of the year and I was intrigued and absorbed in the realm of Wiccan witchcraft. All of this was happening in the decade of the 1960's when witchcraft was just starting to come out of the broom closet.

It was during that decade of the 1960's, in the year 1966 that a woman named J.K. Rowling was born. This is the woman who has captivated the world in this year of 2000 with four books known as the 'Harry Potter Series.' These books are orientation and instructional manuals of witchcraft woven into the format of entertainment. These four books by J.K. Rowling teach witchcraft! I know this because I was once very much a part of that world.

Witchcraft was very different in the 1960's. There were a lot fewer witches, and the craft was far more secretive. At the end of that spiritually troubled decade, I was miraculously saved by the power of Jesus Christ and His saving blood. I was also delivered from every evil spirit that lived in me and was set free. However, as I began to attend fundamental Christian churches, I realized that even there witchcraft had left its mark. Pagan holidays and sabats were celebrated as 'Christian holidays.'

As time went on, I watched the so-called 'Christian' churches compromising and unifying. I also watched with amazement as teachings from Eastern religions and 'New Age' doctrine began to captivate congregations. It was a satanic set-up, and I saw it coming. Illuministic conspirators were bringing forth a one-world religion with a cleverly concealed element of occultism interwoven in its teachings.

In order to succeed in bringing witchcraft to the world and thus complete satanic control, an entire generation would have to be induced and taught to think like witches, talk like witches, dress like witches, and act like witches. The occult songs of the 1960's launched the Luciferian project of capturing the minds of an entire generation. In the song 'Sound Of Silence' by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel, we were told of seeds that were left while an entire generation was sleeping, and that the 'vision that was planted in my brain still remains.'

Now it is the year 2000. All of the foundations for occultism and witchcraft are in place. The Illuminists have to move quickly, because time is running out.

It was the Communist revolutionary Lenin who said, 'Give me one generation of youth, and I will transform the entire world.' Now an entire generation of youth has been given to a woman named J.K. Rowling and her four books on witchcraft, known as the Harry Potter Series.

As a former witch, I can speak with authority when I say that I have examined the works of Rowling and that the Harry Potter books are training manuals for the occult. Untold millions of young people are being taught to think, speak, dress and act like witches by filling their heads with the contents of these books. Children are obsessed with the Harry Potter books that they have left television and video games to read these witchcraft manuals.

The first book of the series, entitled 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone', finds the orphan, Harry Potter, embarking into a new realm when he is taken to 'Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.' At this occult school, Harry Potter learns how to obtain and use witchcraft equipment. Harry also learns a new vocabulary, including words such as 'Azkaban', 'Circe', 'Draco ', 'Erised', 'Hermes', and 'Slytherin'; all of which are names of real devils or demons. These are not characters of fiction!

How serious is this? By reading these materials, many millions of young people are learning how to work with demon spirits. They are getting to know them by name. Vast numbers of children professing to be Christians are also filling their hearts and minds, while willingly ignorant parents look the other way.

The titles of the books should be warning enough to make us realize how satanic and anti-Christ these books are. The afore-mentioned title of the first book, 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone', was a real give away. The second book was called 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets', while the third book was entitled 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.'

This is the oldest con game ever hatched out of hell. As a real witch, I learned about the two sides of 'the force.' Apparently, so do many 'Christian' leaders. When real witches have sabats and esbats and meet as a coven, they greet each other by saying 'Blessed be', and when they part, they say 'The Force be with you.' Both sides of this 'Force' are Satan. It is not a good side of the force that overcomes the bad side of the force, but rather it's the blood of Jesus Christ that destroys both supposed sides of the satanic 'Force.'

High level witches believe that there are seven satanic princes and that the seventh, which is assigned to Christians, has no name. In coven meetings, he is called 'the nameless one.' In the Harry Potter books, there is a character called 'Voldemort.' The pronunciation guide says of this being 'He who must not be named.'

On July 8 at midnight, bookstores everywhere were stormed by millions of children to obtain the latest and fourth book of the series known as 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.' These books were taken into homes everywhere with a real evil spirit following each copy to curse those homes.

July 8th was also the 18th day (three sixes in numerology) from the witches' sabat of midsummer. July 8th was also the 13th day from the signing of the United Religions Charter in San Francisco . Now we have learned that the public school system is planning to use the magic of Harry Potter in the classrooms making the public schools centers of witchcraft training.

What does God have to say about such books as the Harry Potter series? In the Bible in the book of Acts, we read the following in the 19th chapter, verses 18 - 20: 'And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. So mightily grew the Word of God and prevailed.'

As parents, we will answer to God if we allow our children to read witchcraft books. The Word of God will prevail mightily in your life only if such things of Satan are destroyed. This tract has been prayed over, and I hope it has helped you. If we may be of further assistance, please contact us.

Them that honor Me, I will honor -1 Samuel 2:30b

These are golden words and they apply to all of us without exception. God is saying to us that if any person, anywhere, will honor Him he or she will, in turn, be honored by Him. To make it personal God says to each one of us, "If you will honor Me, I will honor you. We often hear about the honor of representing one's country in sport, or the honor bestowed by a country on some person in recognition of a worthy act. But very few of us will ever qualify for that sort of honor. But it is within our power to honor God and to have Him honor us in return.

What does it mean to honor God? How does He honor us in return? We honor God when we make it our chief ambition in life to please Him, to love Him and to serve Him at all times. This is the way that Jesus lived. He said "I honor My Father" (John 8:49) and in John John 8:29, "I do always those things that please Him". A man without God, on the other hand, may seek the honor of his fellow man rather than the honor that comes from God (John 5:44). A number of Bible passages tell us how we can honor God and how He honors us in return.

1. We honor the Lord by trusting Him with our whole heart. Jesus told us that it is God's will that "all men should honor the Son even as they honor the Father" (John 5:23,24). He then added, "He that hears my word and believes on Him that sent Me has everlasting life". We honor the Lord Jesus by believing His Word and trusting in Him. God honors us in return by giving us eternal life.

2. We honor the Lord by serving Him. Jesus said, "If any man serve Me, him will My Father honor" (John 12:20-26). In speaking of the corn of wheat falling into the ground and dying, our Lord was referring to Himself and His death and the fruits of His sacrifice. But He was also giving us a principle that if we too die to self we will bring forth fruit to His glory (John 12:24). As we honor the Lord by surrendering to Him and serving Him, He will honor us by making our lives spiritually fruitful.

3. We honor God by setting our love upon Him. Psalm 91:14,15 reads, "Because he has set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high because he has known my name. He shall call upon me and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him". In return for our love, He promises to honor us by delivering us, by lifting us up, answering our prayers and being with us in trouble.

4. We honor God with our substance. Proverbs 3:9,10 reads, "Honor the Lord with your substance and with the firstfruits of all your increase; so shall your barns be filled with plenty....." Jesus has told us "Give, and it will be given to you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you" (Luke 6:38 NKJ) by giving God His rightful place in regard to our substance, we will be richly rewarded.

Is it all too difficult? Some may feel that to honor God seems to be too demanding, but we may be sure that God will give the grace to obey Him whatever it might involved.

Angkong's Wisdom

During one of the dinners, while eating a dish made with sizzling rice cakes, Uncle Henry told me that every time he eats sizzling rice dishes, he remembers how much Ankong had made sizzling rice cakes out of rice during World War II to preserve rice sacks from being molded or corrupted.

He learned that once rice was cooked to be sizzling rice cakes, it does not get molded or corrupted at all.

Thus during the war, Uncle Henry ate a lot of variety dishes made of sizzling rice cakes when he was little...

How wise Angking was...

Some of you must have heard this story before but I thought I better put it down for the posterity...
